This book is a result of my quest for and acquisition of happiness, adventure as well as excitement. I was always aware that this type of life required a little effort. I never had a dislike for work. In this book I will describe the purchase of a 43 foot Gulfstar sail boat and our sail from Boston to the Caribbean where we embark on a ten year long chartering business. One of the best adventures I ever experienced. This is the same reply you would get from hundreds of others that have done the same thing. Not one regrets one moment. At the end of ten years, in order to keep the adventure and excitement fresh we signed on as captains on a 72 foot motor yacht migrating up and down the East coast for a delightful family from Long Island. At the five year mark of running this Yacht I was diagnosed with an incurable Lymphoma. We resigned our commission to stay in close proximity to medical treatment. My same philosophy saved me. There was an adjustment period but I overcame this with humor and laughter. I believe strongly in "Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone." This book is sprinkled heavily with humor describing our water to earth adventures. We even made the big "C" funny. Judith, my wife and love of my life experienced it all and her support was awesome. I really believe that humor is a healer. I am at a point right now where I suffer major exhaustion. Always being an active person, all day TV started to bother me. Judith suggested the book. I tried not to exaggerate these stories too much.

I had to read this book because of the sailing story it promised to be, since I also sailed numerous times around the Virgin Islands and loved the area. The author is now landlocked, and has been fighting with cancer for several years now, still keeping up his good nature.Captain Bob is funny, his humor shows through in his story-telling, even (and especially so) in the section dealing with his cancer. He loves his wife, as he keeps repeating every time he humorously addresses something that all wives/girlfriends seem to do where men are concerned. And as usual, the men don't really listen - as Bob admits, but we all knew anyway.
His stories about his childhood are interesting, and what a difference from childrens' conditions today! You have to giggle about some of the things he and his friends did.
Overall, it's a good read, it will keep you interested, emotionally involved and thankful if you're healthy and have someone love you as much as Bob obviously loves his wife.

Sailing Through Spilt Milk CPT Robert F Campbell Judith Pear Campbell 9781481007511 Books Reviews
A fun book to read. Brings back memories of my own juurney through life. I wish the author the best of luck.
Sailing through Spilt Milk begins with following your dreams no matter how scary or how crazy they seem to the ones you love. However, it will also make you cry, make you laugh, make you sad and tug at your heart. Those tugs will make you realize what is important, family and those crazy friends who always have your back. Have a wonderful time following Captain Campbell's and his victim's adventures through their wild journey that they call life.
They do a bit of sailing in the beginning of the book, but there are no details given about sailing. The rest of the book is the rambling of an old man. If you enjoy reading the Twitter pages of an old man, then this book is for you; otherwise give it a pass.
This is a really sweet read..I found myself in "Judith" and laughed at loud at her foibles...
I expected that this would be a sad book, but he author mixes his medicine with humor, courage and frustation in a dose that goes down easily.
Entertaining, Inspiring, Realistic. Regardless your dream... this book shows you it IS possible.
Almost a blue print for the boating life in Paradise, Virgin Islands. With reality!
Funny and entertaining. This is not fiction. That is why there are so many episodes that transfer to our own lives.
We can epathize with these people.
Difference. They are doing it in Paradise, and we do it in the four seasons of "normal" life.
Refreshing! Goal setting.
I did not know Captain Robert Campbell when I purchased this book. It came recommended to me by a friend. I was delighted to find a true story of adventure, love, courage and humor. This book is an easy read that left me inspired and awed by the author's approach to life while facing a personal battle that many of my friends and family have also endured. After reading the book, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Bob and his "victim" aka Judith, his lovely wife, through a mutual friend at their home in Fort Lauderdale. It was clear after meeting them that they both have lived their lives with a spirit of adventure to be envied. I highly recommend this book to all who enjoy true stories of life adventures and inspiration. My thanks to you, Bob and Judy.Sailing Through Spilt Milk
I was fortunate to know Captain Bob and Judy during their sailing adventures in the Virgin Islands but didn't know he could write. Wow!! A delicious three course read, an appetizer of hilarious stories of his childhood in Boston, a main course of wonderful and funny stories of their sailing adventures in Paradise, and a surprising dessert of their fight with cancer.
A childhood on the steets of Boston, seen through Bob's eyes, makes everyone wish they had experienced it with him. What fun! And then the highlight of everyone's dreams, sailing your own boat though the beautiful waters of the Virgin Islands, and getting paid for it. To follow this, tragedy, incurable cancer, but still his sense of humour and love for his wife prevails.
A wonderful read of an exciting life time. Bob, I hope you have time left to write another!
